Please join us in room 205 of Falvey Memorial Library on Friday, April 25 at 9:00 a.m. for the Falvey Scholars 2014 Awards Presentation and Reception Ceremony. Falvey Scholars is an annual program that recognizes outstanding undergraduate research. Awardees are selected from various categories: Liberal Arts, Sciences, Social Sciences, Engineering, Nursing and Business. At this event, award recipients will give short presentations on the content and findings of the research involved in the writing of the thesis or creation of the project report. 11:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Presentation #6-Noor F. Shaik (Biology); Mentor: Dennis D. Wykoff, PhD; Project: “Using Fluorescent Markers in Cells and Flow Cytometry to Measure the Selective Pressures in Yeast.”
Presentations will be followed by a brief talk by Darren Poley, interim director of Falvey Memorial Library, in which he will focus attention on the importance of both undergraduate and graduate research on campus. He will also highlight another significant event of the day related to the recognition and celebration of student research—the Sigma Xi Research 2014 Event, which will take place in Connelly immediately following Falvey Scholars. Falvey Scholars attendees will be invited to visit Connelly for the Sigma Xi event. Refreshments will be served throughout the program.
