Please join us in Falvey Memorial Library’s Speakers’ Corner on Monday, April 7 at 3:00 p.m. as Jane Golden, City of Philadelphia Mural Arts Program founder and executive director, presents a talk about her program.
Golden has been a driving force for the City of Philadelphia Mural Arts Program for 30 years, overseeing its growth from a small city agency into the nation's largest mural program and a model for community development across the country and around the globe. Under Golden’s direction, the Mural Arts Program has created over 3,500 landmark works of public art in Philadelphia through innovative collaborations with community based organizations, city agencies, non-profits, schools, the private sector and philanthropies. Golden will discuss her program, the process of writing and painting at its core, and will show a slideshow of Philadelphia’s latest and most impressive murals.
The event, co-sponsored by the Department of English and its concentration in writing and rhetoric, the Cultural Studies Program and Falvey Memorial Library, is free and open to the public.
