PA Senator Daylin Leach on “Writing Legislation and Speeches for Social Justice”

When:

Thursday, April 3rd, 2014, at 4:30 PM

Where:

Speakers' Corner

Event Description:

Daylin Leach, current Pennsylvania Senator, will speak at Villanova University, Thursday, April 3 from 4:30-5:30 pm at the Speakers’ Corner, Falvey Memorial Library.

Known as the “Liberal Lion of Pennsylvania,” Senator Leach will describe the writing process that he and his staff use to champion causes such as marriage equality, medical marijuana, ecological sustainability, voting rights, anti-poverty programs in his fight for social justice, a goal central to Leach’s progressive politics. Leach is a funny, inspiring speaker who had a hard-scrabble upbringing himself, having been in the foster-care system as a child.  His concern for the poor and support for the public social safety net comes from personal experience. There will be plenty of time at the talk for Q and A with the Senator.

This event, co-sponsored by the Concentration in Writing and Rhetoric, the Cultural Studies Program and  Falvey Memorial Library, is free and open to the public.
