The campus community is invited to join us here at Falvey Memorial Library on May 14 for a celebration of fun, music and fulfillment of the Villanova mission of igniting change through creativity, innovation and commitment to academic excellence! We will be having a day-long event which will feature the presentation of the Association of College & Research Libraries (ACRL) Award, a symposium by the Villanova academic community, and a nighttime celebration in honor of our ACRL award win.
The ACRL award will be formally presented to University President Rev. Peter M. Donohue, PhD, OSA on the morning of May 14, by ACRL President for 2012-2013, Steven Bell. This ceremony will be followed by a symposium on the future of libraries featuring a cavalcade of 30+ ‘lighting talks’ given by faculty and Falvey staff and a catered lunch. The symposium will begin at 8:30 a.m. with a continental breakfast, and end at 3:30 pm.
The nighttime celebration will take place 5-9 p.m. in the Old Falvey Reading Room. Light food & beverages will be served. The evening will feature two sets of music by Villanova University's very own librarian band, Marc Fields & Bad Data, covering an eclectic range of styles from traditional songs & ballads to bluegrass & country through straight ahead rock-n-roll, and will include a number of original tunes written by library staff members. Join us--a fine and memorable time will be had by all!
**If you’d like to attend either portion of the event, i.e., the daytime symposium, or nighttime celebration (or both), please RSVP before May 10 to Gina Duffy (email@example.com).
