Art History

Student working on a paper for his art history course needed information on a Robert Rauschenberg painting that he'd seen in the Art Museum lately.

  1. Answer by:

We looked for books in the catalog on Rauschenberg (many exist). Both ARTstor and Google Images did not have the exact painting (actually silk screen) but displayed some that were similar. I showed him the Art History subject guide pages, noting the Grove Ency. of Art and Art Fulltext. A brief reference in Google helped us to place the work in the context of the artist's ouevre.
