Industry Profiles

Industry profiles are useful for both career exploration and interview preparation.  They typically describe how the industry operates, identify trends, list major competitors and professional associations and publications for further inquiry.

Organization Profiles

Before going on an informational or job interview, prepare yourself by knowing as much as you can about the organization.  Of course much can be learned by viewing company web sites and social media outlets.  But for an independent lens, why not check out company reports and mentions in the news.  How much you can learn about an organization is dependent on status.  Much can be learned about public companies and nonprofits, whereas much less is usually discoverable about small private firms.

Locality Based Job Searching

Sometimes finding small and medium employers with operations in specific regions is a top priority.  These directories facilitate searching and browsing by location.

Philadelphia Business Journal (American City Business Journals)
Check out the "Books of Lists" for top employers across a number of industries in regional markets.

Search the jobs postings or do an advanced search by geography in the U.S. businesses module.
