About Millicent Gaskell
Millicent Gaskell is the University Librarian and Director of Falvey Library.
Ms. Gaskell came to Villanova University in 2015 from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where she most recently served as the Department Head of Collections Strategy and Management, responsible for MIT's $10M collections budget and 36 staff. Prior to her tenure at MIT, she was Manager of Information Services among other roles during a 10-year career at QVC. Previously, as Environmental Information Specialist at the South Jersey Environmental Information Center, Ms. Gaskell built the only public environmental collection and research service in New Jersey.
Since joining Villanova University, Ms. Gaskell has provided leadership for the complete renovation of the Dugan Polk Family Reading Room, directed the development of the Library's five-year strategic plan, and spearheaded the Library's comprehensive collection review project.
Ms. Gaskell earned her Master of Science in Information Science and Technology from Drexel University and her Bachelor of Arts in English and Comparative Literature from Ursinus College.
