Billing

To avoid the assessment of late fines or lost book charges, return or renew books on or before the due date.

  • Main Stacks books - fines are $0.10 per day, per book with a $3.00 maximum per book.
  • Hourly Loans on Course Reserve materials, computer accessories, study room keys, and calculators are fined hourly fines, which range from $0.25 - $2.00 per hour. Daily loans range from $2.00 - $5.00 per day. There is a $30.00 fine per item.
  • Media (VHS, DVD) - fines are $1.00 per day with a $10.00 maximum per item.
  • Lost item charge - $25.00-$150.00 (depending on the material type) Lost charges will be assessed once a book has become 30 days overdue. Higher lost charges will apply to electronic devices. A separate non-refundable processing fee of $30.00 per item will also apply to lost items.
  • Fines, fees, and charges can be paid at the Circulation Desk with cash, personal check, or Wildcard.
  • On a case-by-case basis, the library may decide to accept a replacement copy of a lost book only if the replacement matches the ISBN of the library's original copy and is in brand new (not used, gently used, good, fair, or other condition). In these cases, a non-refundable processing fee of $30.00 per item will apply.

Borrowing privileges will be blocked for any amount due greater than $25.00, with the exception of Courtesy member borrowers, whose block limit is $10.00.

Notifications

The Library sends out reminder notices in advance of the due date to remind patrons of books coming due. Overdue notices are sent at regular intervals and fine/fee statements whenever new fines/fees are generated. Other types of notices are Recall, Item Available, and Cancellation. Since most of our patrons use email, that is how most notices will be sent.
