Technology Equipment Loans
The Digital Scholarship Lab maintains a variety of digital media technology equipment for the use of Villanova University faculty, students, and staff, including DSLR cameras, 360-degree cameras, and podcasting equipment. In addition to the items available from the Digital Scholarship Lab, the main service desk on the first floor also offers laptops, calculators, chargers, personal DVD players, and more; see their Equipment Loans page for more information.
All items may be checked out for 7 days. Due to limited supply of items, patrons won’t be able to renew items, but may come back a week later to check out an item if available. If you plan to take any Digital Scholarship Lab equipment on a trip, we highly recommend you store all equipment in a carry on backpack.
Please check the item's availability in the library’s catalog and request the item for check-out by filling out the Digital Scholarship Lab Item Request Form. Items may be picked up at the library’s service desk. Keep in mind the library will need 48 hours to retrieve your item before you will be able to check out your requested item at the library’s front desk on the 1st floor. You will receive an email from the front desk when your item is ready for pickup.
Borrowing Policies
- Loan Period: 1 week
- Restrictions: No renewals.
- Overdue, damaged, and lost item fines apply. See our overdue, lost, and damaged item fines and fee policies below.
- Equipment is available on request.
- All equipment is only available to Villanova University students, faculty, and staff.
**Please note if you check out a camera or our podcasting equipment, you will need to delete any personal photos, audio, or video files before you return the item to the library. The library will not be held responsible for any deleted files once an item has been returned.

Overdue Fines and Fees
Overdue fines are $1 per day and are added for students and university staff, with a maximum fine rate of $10. Overdue fines are not added for faculty and Falvey staff. Lost item replacement and processing fees will be added 7 days after the due date for all patron groups.
Notifications
The Library sends out email notices regarding the following items:
- Loan Period: 1 week
- Due date reminders
- Overdue notices
- Recall notices
- Item available notices
- Hold cancellation notices
Lost or Damaged Item Fees
Lost item fees will apply when materials are more than 10 days overdue. Replacement and Processing Fees are waived when an overdue item is returned.
A $30.00 non-refundable Lost Item Processing Fee will also be applied for each Lost item in addition to the lost item fee.
Once paid, lost item replacement charges are refundable up to one year from the date of payment. The library reserves the right to replace a title in question with a different title as dictated by the needs of the curriculum and the collection. Unpaid accounts will be referred to the Bursar for collection.
If an item is damaged, the following replacement item charges will also apply, along with a $30.00 non-refundable processing fee.
