Located on the second floor of the library in Room 218A, the Digital Scholarship Lab supports Villanova faculty, students, and staff who are working on developing digital projects, or are interested in learning more about digital media, digital humanities, or data-intensive research and teaching.

Digital Scholarship Lab Hours

The Digital Scholarship Lab is open by reservation-only during the following days and times, except during Villanova Holidays and closures:

  • Mondays: 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  • Tuesdays: 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  • Wednesdays: 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
  • Thursdays: 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
  • Fridays: 9:00 a.m.- 3:00 p.m.

If the Lab is closed due to an event, the closure will be noted here:

*The Digital Scholarship Lab will be closed Thursday, March 30 and Friday, March 31, 2023. The lab will also be closed Friday, April 7, 2023-Tuesday, April 11, 2023 due to events. The lab will reopen on Wednesday, April 12, 2023. 

The Lab is equipped with 4 PC workstations, 1 high-performance Mac Pro workstation, 1 large Epson flatbed scanner, 2 display monitors, 1 meeting table, and 3 Mac and 3 PC laptops that can be connected to docking stations and monitors in the Lab.

**Please note laptops are not available for check-out to patrons and may only be used in the Digital Scholarship Lab. If you would like to check out a laptop, please see the library's Equipment Loans.

Specific workstations, laptops, and the Epson flatbed scanner are reservable. Please see our booking reservations or contact digitalscholarship@villanova.edu to make a reservation. The space may be used for digital scholarship sponsored events and workshops, but may not be used for regular class meetings unless your class is less than 10 students.

Software

The Digital Scholarship Lab offers an expanded range of software covering a variety of digital methods and tasks, including but not limited to geospatial mapping, data visualization, text and data mining, digitization, and multimodal publishing. Technology Equipment Loans

The Digital Scholarship Lab offers a digital media technology equipment loan program.  Villanova faculty, students, and staff may check out DSLR cameras, 360-degree cameras, and podcasting equipment from the Digital Scholarship Lab for up to 1-week with no renewals. Once an item is requested, equipment can be picked up at the service desk on the first floor of the library. No Food or Drink Policy

The Digital Scholarship Lab has a no food or drink policy near our computers and laptops. If you have food or drinks with you, please set them on the desk at the front of the room and pick it up when you leave.
