Event Description:

The graphic novel and comic book industry is undergoing a digital revolution. On Wednesday, Oct. 26, Villanova University will host a panel discussion with three noted Philadelphia comic book professionals who are redefining the way graphic novels are viewed. Falvey Memorial Library, in partnership with the Villanova University Writing Center, presents the third annual celebration of graphic novels and visual storytelling. The event, “Graphic Novels in the Digital Age,” will take place Wednesday, Oct. 26, at 3:00 p.m., at Falvey Memorial Library (First Floor Lounge). It is free and open to the public. Josh Levitas is the production designer and hand-letterer of Ulysses "Seen," an online graphic adaptation of James Joyce's masterwork that has garnered attention from The New York Times, TIME, Wired and The New Yorker. As a founding member of Throwaway Horse LLC, Levitas develops educational apps that unite literary classics, comic book art and scholarly research. Tony Trov and Johnny Zito develop and write popular comic book series for publishers including DC Entertainment and digital retailer Comixology. They have also put their visual storytelling skills to use creating films for Ford. They are set to film an adaptation of their comic book series The Dogs of M.A.R.S. in 2012. The event features talks by the three guests, as well as a panel question and answer session and iPad gallery of digital graphic novels for attendees to browse.
