Event Description:

On Monday, November 8 at 4 p.m., come and join the discussion with Marylu Hill, Ph.D., and Paul E. Kerry, DPhil. in the first floor lounge, Falvey Library. Dr. Hill and Dr. Kerry will discuss how important Thomas Carlyle was to his Victorian contemporaries, examine briefly his work, argue why he has fallen out of favor and explain the resurgence of interest in Carlyle’s historical and political writing. Their book, Thomas Carlyle Resartus: Reappraising Carlyle's Contribution to the Philosophy of History, Political Theory, and Cultural Criticism, will be available for purchase and signing.
