  1. I am one of the leaders for the fall service break trip to Belize City, Belize. Joanna told us a while back that we could email you if we were interested in getting some more information about our site and I was hoping that offer was still on the table. Are there any resources you could tell me about or a direction you could point me in that might be helpful in getting some more information about Belize?

It’s great to hear from you! I’m certainly happy to help you research Belize before your break trip. To start, here are some books about Belize that the library owns. I selected a variety of topics, but hopefully a couple will speak to your site location. I found these titles by searching the library catalog for “Belize” and browsing the results.

BBC News has a country profile for Belize, and is a great site for keeping up on world news events:

Finally, I used the Library’s new Articles & More search to find some articles on Belize City. I actually came up with quite a lot of articles, so you may want to try out the “Topics” suggestions on the right hand side of the screen to narrow the results. You could also consider checking the box on the right hand side to “Include News Articles” since current events are probably of interest to you. If you aren’t familiar with the Library’s new Articles & More search, I strongly recommend watching the video on the Search Tab to find out more. Here are the search results for Belize City:

To dig deeper, the Latin American Studies Subject Guide can guide you to a variety of resources, especially if you become more interested in a particular topic.

If you would like more help doing research for your break trip, or for any other projects, I would be happy to schedule a time to talk to you. Appointments can be held in person, over the phone, or virtually via instant messaging. I hope you have a great trip!
