I am looking for books on the early church. How can I search by subject in Falvey's catalog?

Using the most obvious search term, "Early Church" for example, will work. If you search the catalog by selecting "Books & more" this will give you, in this case, tens of thousands of hits. Even if you limit your search results to books published only in the last decade by using the "Year of Publication" facet you will have well over a thousand books listed. The specific "Subject" term one should use to search the topic of the early church is a little more complicated: "Church history Primitive and early church, ca. 30-600." Because this will still result in a lot of books showing up in what seems like a random list, keep in mind you can resort the list by selecting "Date descending" in the "Sort" box. This will list the most recently published books in our collection first. As you can plainly see “early church” is a part of the longer subject descriptor. So searching by “Subject” using just the phrase “early church” will get you those with the longer subject heading plus a whole lot more. And sometimes more is not better.  Never forget you can always refine your search results by “Classification,” “Topic,” and “Language.”
