Reference List Tools

The Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association is the authoritative guide to creating a referene list.  It is only available in print, but these online guides are useful. 

Purdue Online Writing Lab OWL

Most databases offer citation tool, but you should use them with caution as sometimes they don't format citations correctly and you may need to edit the results.


RefWorks is a subscription tools that lets you organize and format citations.  It is worthwhile learning this if you expect to do a fair amound of research.
