Scopus is the most comprehensive multi-disciplinary database of peer-reviewed literature. Also good for citation analysis.
Science Citation Index is a selective index of the best journals in many fields. If you are finding a lot of articles on a topic but having trouble narrowing your list, consider Science Citation Index.
USGS Publications Warehouse indexes all USGS publications, many of which are downloadable.
USGS Library Catalog is the largest earth science library in the world.
Dissertations and Theses will provide you to the full text of high quality student work that is not indexed elsewhere.
Geologic Guidebooks of North America can be searched to identify guidebooks. Search our catalog or use interlibrary loan to obtain them.
