In addition to databases listed below a full list of databases available through the library are listed in Databases A to Z and other subject specific databaes can be found under Subject Guides.

You can also search the library by entering search terms in the search bar located on any page of the library's website, hitting find, and selecting the center column for Article and More.

Some entries have full text via the database.
For others, click on findit.gif to determine


After clicking on the "Find it" button one of 3 things will happen

  1. You will be linked directly to the article
  2. There will be a blue button "Full text online" that you can click to access the article
  3. There will be a blue button "Request scan" which will allow you to request the article through interlibary loan.

MLA International Bibliography (ProQuest)
Provides citations to journal articles, books, book chapters, and dissertations on all aspects of literature, language and linguistics, literary theory and criticism, dramatic arts, and folklore. International in scope; coverage from 1926 to present. Subscription to the MLA International Bibliography also includes access to the MLA Directory of Periodicals..

JSTOR
Provides a full-text archive of academic journals and books in the humanities, social sciences and mathematics. The most recent three to five years of a journal are usually not included.

Literature Criticism Online (Gale)
Provides compilations of literary criticism. Includes the complete runs of Classical and Medieval Literature Criticism, Contemporary Literary Criticism, Drama Criticism, Literature Criticism from 1400 to 1800, Nineteenth-Century Literature Criticism, Poetry Criticism, Shakespearean Criticism, Short Story Criticism, and Twentieth-Century Literary Criticism.

Literature Online (ProQuest)
Features a digital library of English and American poetry, drama, and prose. Provides access to literary criticism indexed in ABELL and MLA International Bibliography and includes selective access to the full-text of academic journals. Also includes full-text access to a collection of dictionaries, encyclopedias, and biographical dictionaries.

America: History and Life (EBSCO)
Indexes the literature covering the history and culture of the United States and Canada from prehistory to the present. Includes citations for journal and magazine articles, book reviews and dissertations. Abstracts of journal articles are included together with selected full-text. Indexing goes back to 1964.
America: History & Life is a self-paced interactive tutorial for students new to this resource.

Historical Abstracts (EBSCO)
Indexes academic journals, magazines, books, book reviews and dissertations that cover world history from 1450 to the present, excluding North American history which is covered in the companion index: America: History and Life. Includes abstracts for academic journal articles and selective full-text content. Coverage extends back to 1953.
A Short Introduction to Historical Abstracts is a self-paced interactive tutorial for students new to this resource.

African American Studies Center (Oxford University Press)
Contains a selection of African American studies resources ranging from the authoritative Encyclopedia of African American History to the African American National Biography project. Selected primary sources, maps, images, charts, and tables round out the collection.
