Background Information: Encyclopedias and Reference Books

Subject-specific encyclopedias offer well-researched entries written by subject experts. Each entry includes a bibliography that will lead to further sources on a topic. The following encyclopedias are particularly relevant to the conceptual areas for research for the GIS 2000 project.

The 17th edition of the Manual is the most current. The online version includes a Citation Quick Guide. Access to the 16th edition is also available.
