Falvey Library serves as the premier source of academic resources for the Villanova University community through its collections, educational and consulting services, innovative technology, programming and physical facilities.
Access to and use of the Library is a privilege extended, upon presentation of a Wildcard, to Villanova faculty, students, and staff. Other groups with limited access include Villanova alumni, Rosemont College faculty and students, area clergy, and residents of Lower Merion and Radnor townships.
vISITORS
During periods of regular library hours, visitors not affiliated with Villanova University may enter the Library prior to 7:30 p.m. Sunday to Thursday, and prior to 4:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
Visitors must check in at the service desk and present a valid and current photo identification card. The photo ID will be held at the service desk during the visit. Visitors must depart by the end of service hours.
Visiting hours are subject to change due to university breaks and holidays. Please view the Hours page for the most up-to-date service hours.
Expectations
Library users and staff will interact with mutual respect and consideration and strive to embody the Community Ideals of the University.
Library users will:
Respect University, Library, and private property.
Abide by all University and Library policies, licensing and contractual agreements.
Comply with all requests made by library staff.
Show valid identification upon request.
Park scooters and bicycles in storage racks provided outside of the building and keep them clear of entrances and exits.
Use Falvey Library resources (content, equipment, or facilities) safely and appropriately.
Priority of use
Current Villanova University faculty, students, and staff have priority access to all library resources, including computer equipment. Visitors may be asked to relinquish computers or resources to Villanova University faculty, students, or staff at any time.
Limits of use
The following are prohibited:
Behaviors that threaten personal safety or the security of personal or University property.
Behaviors that violate Villanova University’s Policy on Non-Discrimination and Non-Harassment.
Behaviors that violate Villanova University’s IT Policies including the Acceptable Use Policies (https://www1.villanova.edu/villanova/unit/policies/AcceptableUse.html)
Interfering with the activities of other library users or staff, including but not limited to excessive noise, cell phones, music, hostility, rudeness, and consumption of food and drink that does not comply with the Library's food and beverage policy.
Excessive or inappropriate use of library resources; including computers, books, journals, databases, seating space, study rooms, networks, etc.
Tampering with computers, equipment, facilities, or any other Library resources.
Distribution or posting of unauthorized literature, including but not limited to flyers, leaflets, booklets, articles, brochures, and posters. See section on Posting Notices in the Student Handbook. Approved postings can be placed on Falvey Library bulletin boards located in the front and rear stairwells on the 1st floor of the main library and in the basement of Old Falvey Hall.
Violation of copyright law in the use, reproduction, and distribution of library materials and resources. https://library.villanova.edu/about/services/facultyservices/copyright/
Use of scooters, skateboards, bicycles, and other personal transportation vehicles within the library facility. (Assistive vehicles are exempt.)
Falvey Library may limit or refuse access to individuals or groups who fail to comply with these guidelines. Interpretation of policies or guidelines is at the discretion of the Falvey Library staff.
